Forging a new path for herself Lance Corporal Hannah Anderson left a career as an Events and Marketing Officer to join the British Army in February 2015. She chose to take up the challenge of being a Communications Systems Engineer in the Royal Corps of Signals, which is a role that has seen her travel across the globe. She has deployed to the British Army Training Unit in Kenya where she managed a team of engineers to ensure communications were provided and maintained both in barracks and during large tactical exercises. She has also been on numerous exercises, including to Germany where her Squadron worked alongside American counterparts to test interlinking systems. Alongside her day job Lance Corporal Anderson has taken a keen interest in STEM. She is an active member of the Royal Signals Women in Technology initiative, which aims to encourage and support women in the professional environment, as well as promoting networking and strengthen links with industry. A sports enthusiast Lance Corporal Anderson has competed at a high level in road cycling and swimming within the Army. Most notably she has represented the Armed Forces in Tug of War and coached a team to the finals in the Royal Highland Games, which was presided over by HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
