Kate joined Transport for London (TfL) in 2005 on London Underground’s Engineering Apprenticeship programme. After 7 years as a licensed Signal Engineer, she now instructs new apprentices and upskills signal engineers to work on the modern signalling systems.
Kate has been an adult volunteer in the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and an Army Reservist since 2006. After deploying to Afghanistan in 2011 as a vehicle mechanic, she is now in 507 Specialist Team Royal Engineers, providing specialist railway expertise to the British Army.
Kate is an enthusiastic STEM Ambassador and works closely with TfL and the ACF to encourage girls to consider a career in engineering.
