Candice Cross

Group Head of Diversity and Inclusive Culture,
BT

Candice is a Leadership, Talent and OD director with over twenty years’ experience in the development and delivery of leadership development, talent and transformational people programs; with a special interest in applied neuroscience. Over her career Candice had led some major organizational transformations, across public and private sectors, and has built a deep understanding of what it means to engage and equip leaders to enact sustainable change for their organizations and themselves.  Her most recent challenge is leading BTs Global Diversity and Inclusion strategy driving change in workforce culture and composition. Candice is a qualified executive coach, and in addition works with those undergoing fertility treatment.  She’s mum to Elloise 5 and James 3, and lives in Twickenham with Husband Rob and Charlie the Labradoodle.

  • Conducting an analysis of employment data within BT technology careers to identify significant challenges in supporting women transition from middle management to senior roles
  • Responding to inequalities in female representation with the development of the BT Tech Women Network to offer a programme of mentorship, training and networking in order to meet the goal of 30% of executives roles being occupied by women by 2020
  • Ensuring recruitment strategies and career development support women to progress through a company
  • Developing working conditions to support the advancement of women with flexible working packages and a programme supporting women returning from maternity leave
  • Implementing a sustainable diversification strategy for the STEM workforce by encouraging more women to engage in the BT apprenticeship programme and forming a ‘Step into STEM’ initiative across BT
