Lead Practitioner Science Learning Partnership,
Hertfordshire and Essex High School

I am in my 20th year of teaching secondary science, specialising in A’ Level Biology, and enjoying my 5th year at the Hertfordshire and Essex High School.  In 2018 I achieved my SSAT Lead Practitioner accreditation.  I am an SLE and hold the STEM Lead CPD Quality Mark, as a result I support primary and secondary teachers through coaching and running CPD sessions.   In addition to being a classroom practitioner I run the Science Learning Partnership for East Herts and West Essex.  The SLP provides the highest quality Science CPD and bespoke school to school support for primary and secondary schools and post-16 institutes.  I am passionate that all children are entitled to the very best STEM education and the many opportunities that can arise from it no matter what their socioeconomic position, gender or ethnic background.   A secondment with the schools liaison team at GSK early in my teaching career exposed me to the corporate responsibility of such organisations.  It allowed me to appreciate the tremendous work that many STEM corporations and charities do and the vast amounts of outreach and resources available to teachers and support staff.  It also increased my awareness of the many career paths and opportunities for young people.  I am thrilled to now be in a position where I am able to bridge the education and professional sector through working with the STEM ambassador hubs and the many schools that the SLP supports.
